I have to give my mom credit on this one, she picked out these brown NYDJ* skinny jeans all by herself at our last Nordstrom Rack outing.
At first I wasn't too excited about the color brown, but when I saw how well they git her, I figured it was something we could work with. It turns out there are plenty of ways to make brown jeans work in your wardrobe, you just have to know what to pair them with.  For starters, I choose a brown boot and a nude flat because these particular jeans are a little too dark to go with black. On top I found colors that worked well next to brown, like mustard yellow, pink and teal. Colors like purple and cobalt I find pop better with black than brown so I stayed away from those. Navy isn't a very good match either because it is too dark. Try sticking with colors like yellow, greens and teals, and pink instead of reds, purples and blues. (Although, points to anyone who can make red, purple and blue work with brown!) Check out below for a few different brown denim options I found in straight and skinny leg jeans. Then experiment with different colored tops and accessories in your own wardrobe.

*Fun Fact: NYDJ stands for "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" and is a brand name for jeans made especially for mid-life women. (Sold at department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom's, also online at www.nydj.com Check them out!)
